Windows 10 Home users will automatically get updates when Windows Update has updates available. Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Enterprise users can postpone updates. There is a limit to how long Windows 10 Pro users can postpone updates.
Devices with less storage space, such as devices with 32GB hard drives or older devices with full hard drives, may need additional storage space to complete the upgrade. During the upgrade, you will see instructions on how to do this. You may need to delete unnecessary files from your device or insert a USB drive to complete the upgrade.
Some devices with less free space or hard drives, such as PCs with 32GB of storage, may have little free space left after the upgrade. You can easily delete files such as temporary files or previous versions of Windows in the "Storage" system settings to free up disk space. Files from previous versions of Windows allow you to restore a previous version of Windows. These files will be automatically deleted 10 days after the upgrade. To free up space, you can also delete these files immediately.
You need to be connected to the Internet to perform the upgrade. Windows 10 is a large file (about 3GB in size) and Internet access (ISP) fees may apply.
To find device compatibility and other important installation information, visit the device manufacturer's website.
Your device's ability to upgrade is affected by factors beyond system specifications. These include driver and firmware support, application compatibility, and feature support, regardless of whether the device meets the minimum system specifications for Windows 10.
